Puppy Party!

Fellow Amigas...

apologize for my absence...things have been CRAZY
lately, but during my time away, Milo turned one!!

And you bet we had a Puppy Party!

Milo was extra spoiled on his birthday!
He got new toys, a HUGE new bone,
I even made him his very own puppy birthday cake,
and I am sharing this recipe with you!

Ingredients:

1 cup white or wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup Peanut Butter
1/4 Vegtable Oil
1 Cup Shredded Carrots
1 tsp Vanilla
1/3 Cup Honey
1 Egg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Mix all ingredients together

Pour into a bundt pan, or large muffin pan sprayed
with nonstick spray, for several smaller cakes.

Bake for 35 - 40 min.

Frost with fat free whipped cream cheese
or low fat cottage cheese.

Note: Store leftover cake in the fridge!

 Milo LOVED this cake!
He ate two of these large muffin sized cakes and was begging for more!

After all of the festivities, he was one tuckered out pooch and
slept the night away!

I hope your pup enjoys this cake as much
as Milo did!

Red Velvet Brownies

Lucky Ladies,
Today I am sharing one of my FAVORITE treats!

If you like Red Velvet,
you will LOVE these moist yummies!

Red Velvet Brownies with Homemade White Chocolate Frosting....

Yep, not the healthiest, but the tastiest treats when I have a hankerin'!

This is one of those recipes that I have memorized, no need for measuring cups,
and also my go to recipe for treats for friends!

So, here it is!!

Ingredients:

For the brownies:
3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 oz red food coloring
2 tsp pure vanilla extract, divided
1/2 cup  butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt

For the white chocolate buttercream frosting:1/2 cup (8 tbsp) butter
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
4 oz white chocolate

2 tsp Milk

To make the brownies:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.  Prepare an 8″x8″ baking pan
with baking spray.

In a small bowl, stir together the cocoa powder, food coloring, and 1 tsp vanilla until smooth.

In a larger bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time,  then stir in the remaining 1 tsp of vanilla.
Add in the cocoa mixture, then beat together until they are one uniform color.
Slowly add in the flour and salt and mix on medium-low speed, just until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow brownies to cool  in the pan on a baking rack, about 45 minutes.
Frost brownies in the pan, cut and serve, from pan.
To make the frosting:
In a bowl, cream butter until soft and fluffy then beat in the vanilla.

Slowly add in powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time; allow the sugar to mix in before adding the next 1/2 cup.

Once all of the sugar has been added , add in the melted white chocolate and beat until well mixed.

With the mixer on low, add in milk 1 tbsp at a time and mix until the frosting has reached your desired consistency.

Enjoy!

Woopsies

Hello friends!

Just wanted to send out a quick apology for the Weekend Wind Up this week!

My linky tools expired and it closed up before the actual end of the party!

This being said, I now am debating whether I want to re-up with linky tools
or is there is a better option?

So, if you could give me your opinion and any advice on which to use,
I would SO appreciate it!

Peace & Love!

Baby Fever

I'm just going to put it out there...

I am sick....I think I have a temperature...

I have been having Baby Fever!!!

Not that we are planning on kids soon...not for a quite a while actually, but there
are just SO many cute things and ideas out there for the wee ones and
I am in love with them!

Aw!

Seriously, look at this bookshelf
I am drooling! This is so precious, I think I could pull
it off in my room, but it would look great next to this reupholstered
rocker from Craft Hours.

{And for the price of it, I would rather have my hubby make one!}

Reupholstered Nursery Rocker

And what little baby boy wouldn't look precious with this pacifier

must get.

Junk Days!

In my little town, twice a year, there are bulk
 city clean up days.

Everyone puts their "junk" on the curb and people like
me go around town and look at it, and if there is a little
gem in there, we take it!

Today was the first day of city clean up, and
my husband and I went
for a walk this evening, where we happened to find
some treasures!

{{At least we think so!}}

As some of you may know, my hubby is a hunter,
 and the man cave has
a hunting theme.

We found a couple items specifically for his "area!"

This old bugger is going to need some cleaning up,
but he had quite the nice rack!

The rack above had a unique twist in the antler,
unique enough for him to snag it!

Also pictured is someone's mini spoon collection that I found.
Not sure what will be done with it yet,
but I'm sure something will come of them!

This one is probably my favorite find of the night.
It's an old "Lang's Milk" product clock & light.
The hubbs is cleaning it up as we speak!
{I mean type!}

And these old kitchen chairs...
quite lovely... quite charming... and they look
even better cleaned up!

I am SO happy with day one, along with all of these we also
grabbed a few old wooden crates... sigh...

I can't wait to see what there is the rest of the week!

Sunday, April 8, 2012

Life has been busy busy busy lately
as we were preparing to host our first
holiday gathering the new casa!

The meal was GREAT and I only remembered
to take one picture after it
was being devoured!

On the menu was not one, not two, but three types of pork loin,
cream corn, rolls, deviled eggs, veggie salad and grilled potatoes.

For desertsssss we had apple pie, dutch triple berry pie,
 homemade PB eggs, and
my sisters made easter egg shaped cakes! SOOOOO
yummy and I ate WAYYY too much!

Not only have we been preparing for Eater lunch,
but I have had a few
projects going on....

I made a couple hanging vases out of ball jars that match my
Spring Wreath on the porch.

We snagged this mantle at a garage sale, spray painted
it to match our other shelves,
and spruced it up with some spring pieces.

And...this picture frame also came from a garage
sale for a whopping 50 cents!
I spray painted it and antiqued it with a bar of soap and sand paper.
Finished er' off with some chicken wire and made a jewelry hanger for my bathroom.

SO...that has been my weekend in short...
I would love to see what you have been up to,
so head over to the weekend wind up and link up!
You still have time!

Spring Wreath

Last week I created a wreath for my front door, considering Spring is
in full bloom, it's about time!

The finished product looks a little something like this...

To make your own you will need...

An old picture frame
Burlap
Hot Glue
Embellishments
{{I choose flowers, you could do felt or whatever you desire}}
Ribbon for hanging

1. This is a wrap and glue kind of project, so to start, you will need to cut strips of burlap.
I cut mine about 2.5 inches wide by 18 inches long. There is no perfect measurement, so you can decide!

To wrap all the way around, simple trip and glue the pieces to the back of the frame as you go.

2. Once you have your pieces cut, start by gluing one edge to the back of your frame, then wrap it around and around, overlapping the burlap as you go.

3. If you are using a square frame the corners can get a bit tricky.
I wrapped my burlap around the pointed corner, then went back and wrapped the edges down by simply overlapping the burlap pieces.

{{If that is confusing, just e-mail and I will try and explain better!}}

4. Continue wrapping all the way around the frame and finish by hot gluing the last strip to the back.
You can now add your embellishments and ribbon for hanging!

Once you are done you will have a one of a kind
Spring piece to welcome friends at your door!

Just a quick note:
You still have time to enter week's giveaway & link up your projects,

I will be giving away a precious prize from My Little Feather.
